Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  I have a physical disability and require accomodations due to the Americans with Disabilities Act.  How does housing selection work for me?

A:  Please contact our office. We are open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., and would be glad to discuss this with you prior to the housing lottery.

Q:  Do I have to have roommate(s) to live in a room or apartment that is not a single?

A:  Yes. Please do your best to locate roommate(s). If you have exhausted your efforts, you may come to the Residence Life office.  We will keep a list of other students seeking roommates. You may add your name and review the list to find out who the other students are that are seeking roommates.

Q:  What types of apartments are available?

A:  There are apartments for two students with two bedrooms, apartments for three students with two bedrooms, and apartments for four students with four bedrooms. Apartments will be available in the lottery until all of them are selected.

Q: What are my chances of getting an apartment?

A: Lottery numbers are generated by our computer program. The higher your credit hour, the more options you have for selecting the place you would like to live. There is no way to predict what types of housing students with higher credit hours will select. Typically, students with more credit hours select apartments, but this is not always the case.

Q:  I know I probably won't get an apartment.  What are my chances of getting a suite in Lima Complex?

A:   As stated above, there is no way to predict what types of housing students with higher credit hours than yourself will select. It is possible that someone who will be a sophomore next year may not have the option to select apartments or suites and will need to select housing in a traditional residence hall.

Q: I logged on during my lottery time. I selected a place to live in Lima because that was all that was left. I REALLY want to live in an apartment. What do I do?

A: You may be placed on our waiting list for apartments. Details regarding waiting lists will be available at a later time.  We will contact you if you are the person on the waiting list with the highest number of credit hours in the event an apartment space opens up.

A: Yes! Click Housing Profiles on our Web site.

Q: I am studying abroad or doing a co-op in winter quarter or spring quarter. What housing should I select?

A: You can select any housing. However, please know that if you select an apartment, you will be required to find another student who was on co-op or studying abroad during fall quarter to take your place. Be sure to remain in communication with the Office of Residence Life regarding your intentions.
