Established in 1991, the Multicultural Center was the brain child of the Black Student Union. The students saw the need for a place where they could fellowship and bond. Originally the Center housed offices for the Director of Multicultural Development, for the Director of International Recruitment and a secretary. The Multicultural Center acts as the center of operations for the diverse student population of ONU.

In fall of 2004 the center moved one door down to 307 S. Union Street, a larger space.  This new space continues to grow and is being utilized by students and continues to offer an office space used by the presidents and officers of the student organizations under the Multicultural Development umbrella. Space for the Director of Multicultural Development is used for private meetings, a small library, kitchen and three multi-purpose spaces are used by students for meetings, dinners, studying, programs and other social events.

Students are encouraged to drop by the Center throughout the day to visit with friends and make new ones. Every attempt is made to make this space feel like home away from home.
