Events and Programs Schedule

Throughout the quarter, the Office of Career Services will sponsor various events and workshops to enhance students' abilities to effectively prepare for interviews, internship and career searches, or graduate or professional school. 

To register for events, e-mail the Office of Career Services at career@onu.edu and include:

  • Your complete name
  • Name of event
  • Date of event
  • Time and location of event
  • Contact information

Reservations should be made no later than 5:00 p.m. two days before the event. The Office of Career Services reserves the right to cancel any event or workshop if minimum requirement for number of attendees is not met.  Attendees will be notified by contact info provided in registration if a cancellation occurs.  If enough students have already registered, late registrations may be accepted as space allows.

Advisory Services Workshop

Learn about the advisory services offered by the Office of Career Services.  This office provides career and graduate school search strategies, personal development techniques, and lifelong career management skills, beginning in the freshman year and continuing throughout an ONU graduate's career.

 Conquering the Behavioral-Based Interview Workshop

This 40 minute workshop is designed for you to learn how to conquer the most challenging interview questions that employers will ask.  You will be provided with a more cognitive approach to anticipate and forecast interview questions so that you will be prepared to correlate your background, skills and education with those required for the position you seek.

Government Job Opportunities

As we navigate new and existing careers through these difficult economic times, it's important to focus on the positives. No employer offers more opportunities to make a positive difference in the lives of others than our federal government.  As the nation's largest employer, the federal government offers a wide variety of careers for graduates of all majors.  Don't be discouraged by legendary government "red tape."  This workshop will help you understand how to search for jobs and master the application process.

Salary and Benefits Negotiation and Business Etiquette Workshop

This workshop focuses on how to determine whether an offer that has been extended to you is a reasonable offer and how to negotiate for higher salary or enhanced benefits.   The second part of the workshop gives tips on appropriate behavior for beginning a new job.

Symplicity, Resumes and Career Search Engine Strategies - Leveraging Technology in Your Career Search

Learn to use Symplicity, our online data management system that connects students, employers and jobs through job postings and uploaded résumés and provides a guide for producing dynamic resumes that can be printed or uploaded into various job search programs. Wednesday, October 14 @ noon in the Heterick Computer Lab and on Wednesday, October 28 @ 7pm in the Heterick Computer Lab.

Understanding Your Type - Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® Assessment Workshop

Understanding your personality "type" will enhance your undergraduate studies and people skills.  This assessment is offered free to ONU students and alumni.
