Five Polar Bears named Academic All-OAC in Women's Soccer for 2009

ADA — Five Ohio Northern student/athletes were named Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference in women's soccer for 2009 in voting conducted by the league's 10 faculty advisors.

ADA — Ohio Northern senior Kaitlin Sanders and junior Chelsea Albert were named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America in women's soccer for 2009 in voting conducted by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Sanders was a First Team Academic All-America pick, while Albert was a Third Team Academic All-America honoree.

Sanders, a midfielder, is making her second appearance on the squad after earning First Team honors last season.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Freshman Tara Tokar scored a goal in the No. 19 Ohio Northern women's soccer team's first-ever appearance in the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship, but the Polar Bears fell to Wittenberg 3-1 Friday afternoonin the First Round at Zuidema Field.

Six named All-Ohio Athletic Conference in Women's Soccer for 2009

ADA — The No. 19 ranked Ohio Northern women’s soccer team had six players named All-Ohio Athletic Conference for 2009 in voting conducted by the league’s ten coaches.

Seniors Kaitlin Sanders, Angie Pisut, Stacey Barnhart and sophomore Kristen DeWees were all selected First Team All-OAC.

Junior Chelsea Albert was selected Second Team All-OAC, and senior Jamie Eiben was named Honorable Mention All-OAC.

For Sanders, this is the fourth consecutive season that she has been named First Team All-OAC.

Women's Soccer moves up four more spots to No. 19 in final regular season NSCAA/adidas rankings

ADA — The Ohio Northern women's soccer team moved up four spots to No. 19 in the final regular season NSCAA Division III National Rankings.

Northern is tied for 19th in the poll with Hardin-Simmons (Texas).

The Polar Bears are 15-4-2 overall and finished in second place in the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament, falling 2-0 on the road at No. 9 Otterbein on Saturday.

ADA — The No. 23 Ohio Northern women's soccer team has earned a spot in the 63-team NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship field and will play Wittenberg on the campus of Calvin (Mich.) on Friday at 11 am.
