ONU Presents Hurricane Katrina Drama

Award-winning Choreographer Brings 'Games' to ONU

"Games," a production by award-wining choreographer Donald McKayle, comes to Ohio Northern University's Freed Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, Oct. 3, at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 4, at 2 p.m.

Under the supervision of McKayle, seven ONU students will peform "Games," a production that observes city children at play and the serious business of being a child.

Fulbright Scholar Brings Mexican Culture

In Ada, Ohio, it is not often that one might get the opportunity to work with a traditional Mexican dance instructor. Thanks to the Fulbright Scholar Program, however, six students are getting to do just that.

‘Cabaret’ Heats up ONU Stage

The Ohio Northern University Freed Center for the Performing Arts presents the Tony Award-winning musical "Cabaret." Performances begin Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 8 p.m., with a pre-show discussion at 7:15 p.m. Additional performances take place Thursday, Feb. 12, at 8 p.m.; Friday, Feb. 13, at 8 p.m.; Saturday, Feb. 14, at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.; and Sunday, Feb. 15, at 2 p.m. All showings will be in the Stambaugh Studio Theatre.

Dance Company Collaborates with Verb Ballets

Verb Ballets joins forces with the Ohio Northern University Dance Company for an evening of contemporary dance in the Freed Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, Jan. 31. A pre-show discussion begins at 7:15 p.m., followed by the performance at 8 p.m. A second performance takes place Sunday, Feb. 1, at 2 p.m.

Dance Team to Host Children’s Dance Clinic

The Northern Stars, the dance team at Ohio Northern University, will conduct a dance clinic for children ages 4-18 on Saturday, Jan. 17, from noon to 2 p.m.

Children will learn dance techniques and perform a choreographed dance routine with the Northern Stars at the ONU men's varsity basketball game that afternoon at 3 p.m.

Ohio Northern University Presents ‘Holiday Spectacular’

The Ohio Northern University departments of theatre and music will present the 14th annual ONU Holiday Spectacular at the Freed Center for the Performing Arts. Performances are Friday, Dec. 5, at 8 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 6, at 2 and 8 p.m.; and Sunday, Dec. 7, at 2 p.m. The show also will be presented at the Veterans Memorial Civic and Convention Center in Lima on Friday, Dec. 12, at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 13, at 2 and 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, Dec. 14, at 2 p.m.

ONU Dance Program Garners Grant

The Ohio Northern University dance program has been awarded an American Masterpieces: Dance-College Component (AMD-CC) grant.

Broadway Virtuoso to Host ONU Master Class

Tony Award-winning actress Victoria Clark will present a master class for Ohio Northern University theatre, musical theatre and music students on Saturday, Oct. 4, from 9:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the Stambaugh Studio Theatre.

Clark received a 2005 Tony for "Best Leading Actress in a Musical" for her performance as domineering mother Margaret Johnson in "The Light in the Piazza." She garnered rave reviews for her virtuoso performance, including a 2005 Drama Desk Award and Outer Critics Circle Award.

‘South Pacific’ Comes to ONU Stage

Ohio Northern University’s Freed Center for the Performing Arts presents Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “South Pacific.” Performances begin Thursday, Aug. 28, at 8 p.m., with subsequent shows Friday, Aug. 29, and Saturday, Aug. 30, both at 8 p.m., and Sunday, Aug. 31, at 2.p.m. The second showing will begin Friday, Sept. 12, at 8 p.m., followed by performances Saturday, Sept. 13, at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., and Sunday, Sept. 14, at 2 p.m.
