ONU Symphony Celebrates American Music
The Ohio Northern University Symphony presents "Springtime Voyage," a tour of American music, in the Freed Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, May 10, at 8 p.m.
Conductor Lloyd Butler will guide the Symphony through a night of breathtaking symphonic music. The Symphony will be joined by the winners of the 2007-2008 Midwest Young Artists Concerto Competition.
The performance will open with a glimpse back in time to the voyage of Christopher Columbus in Phillip Glass's "Mechanical Ballet." The Symphony will conclude with "Billy the Kid Suite," paying homage to Aaron Copland, the father of American Classical music.
Tickets are $15 for general admission. The Freed Center box office is open Monday through Friday from noon to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Phone orders are accepted with MasterCard, VISA or Discover by calling (419) 772-1900.
