The Ohio Northern University Department of Music will present "An 

Evening of Scenes" by the Opera Workshop this Thursday, May 1 at 8:00 

p.m. in Presser Hall.  Music professor Kirsten Osbun Manley is the 

Stage Director and Professor  Dennis Kratzer is Musical Director. 

The accompanist is freshman piano major Faith Heflin from Cinciannti, 

OH.

Twenty seven students, most of them music and musical theater majors, 

will present scenes from nine different operas and shows.  The 

diverse presentation includes the operas "The Marriage of Figaro", 

"Hansel and Gretel",  "The Student Prince", "The Mikado", "The 

Gondoliers" and "The Pirates of Penzance".  Selections will also be 

presented from the musicals  "Showboat" and "The Most Happy Fella" 

which in some circles are now considered modern operas. The concert 

is free and open to the public but seating is limited.
