Instructor, ESL (English as a second Language)
The ESL Instructor is responsible for teaching English to non-English speakers. Several of the chief tasks include assisting with placement and proficiency evaluations, collaborating with the academic program, instructing students in a classroom setting, and assisting with orienting students.
Principle Responsibilities
- Instruct students with various levels of fluency
- Assist in conducting and assessing placement and proficiency evaluations
- Collaborate with the academic program
- Assist students in their overall orientation to the program and community
- Report on student progress
Required Skills
- Ability to utilize technology for the ESL classroom
- Native-speaker level proficiency in English
- Ability to collaborate with instructor teams
Minimum Qualifications
- Masters Degree in TESOL or a closely related field
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching English in an intensive English language program
- Experience teaching English to Arab speakers
- Experience teaching all levels of adult learners
- Experience living in a non-English speaking country
- Near native fluency in a second language
