Scope:

Oversee the Office of the Registrar through coordinating student registration and managing a variety of related responsibilities

Job Summary:

The registrar oversees the functions of the Office of the Registrar through a variety of responsibilities. Several of the chief tasks include preparing reports, resolving technical issues, providing FERPA training, responding to inquiries, developing and enforcing standards, streamlining data storage, testing Banner upgrades, developing academic policies, and supervising staff members.

Principle Responsibilities:
  • Manage the Banner student-records database
  • Design and prepare WebFocus reports through extracting data from the Banner database
  • Assist in the identification and resolution of Banner and other technical issues
  • Provide FERPA training to faculty and staff and respond to FERPA questions
  • Develop standards and encourage the University community to adhere to those standards
  • Develop and test coding structures and standards to facilitate data storage in Banner in a meaningful and useful format while allowing for future changes
  • Review and test Banner upgrades and patches for impact on the functioning of the Office of the Registrar and provide appropriate training to the office staff
  • Resolve issues that arise with faculty, staff, students and alumni
  • Work with the colleges in their development of academic policies
  • Identify unused features of Banner which could be used to the advantage of the institution
  • Regularly communicate with persons of importance, obtain the cooperation of others, and handle delicate relationships and complex situations
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge in several professional disciplines and have the ability to integrate and apply information from different fields
  • Remain current on University academic policies and related state and federal regulations to ensure fair administration of policy compliance
  • Supervise all aspects of student registration in cooperation with the Office of Admissions, Law Admissions and the Controller
  • Supervise staff and student workers
  • Collaborate with the Office of Academic Affairs to prepare the University catalog
  • Make reports available to academic personnel, offices and other bodies needing enrollment verification

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree
  • Five to seven years of similar work experience 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Banner database
