ONU to Host Multicultural Fair

"One World: Many Flavors," Ohio Northern University's Multicultural Fair, will be held in the McIntosh Activities Room on Monday, April 27, from 5-8 p.m.

The Ohio Northern University World Student Organization and the Office of Multicultural Development are sponsoring the event, which is free and open to the public.

ONU Celebrates the Arts

Celebration of the Arts, a demonstration of visual and written creativity, will be held at the Wishing Well in Ohio Northern University's McIntosh Center on Tuesday, April 21, at 7 p.m.

The event begins with ONU art majors displaying their projects and English majors reading some of their creative works.

Special guest Karen Craigo, Ohio poet and creative writing teacher at Bowling Green State University, will also give a reading.

The event is free and open to the public.

ONU Students Studying in Cuba

Eight Ohio Northern University students are participating in an environmental management program at the University of Havana in Cuba.

Dr. Terry Maris , professor of management at ONU, accompanied the students and acts as the resident director of the program, which began March 7 and continues until May 17.

APhA-ASP Chapter Wins National Award

Ohio Northern University's American Pharmacist Association Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) chapter won the 2008 National Patient Care Award in the Heartburn Awareness Challenge at the annual APhA national conference in San Antonio, Texas, on April 3-4.

ONU captured top honors against 69 APhA-ASP pharmacy chapters competing in a patient care project. The award is based on originality, level of student participation, level of collaboration with other campus organizations and overall impact of heartburn education on the public health of the local community.

Concrete Canoe Team Places First, Qualifies for National Competition

Paddling Toward the Finish LineThe Ohio Northern University concrete-canoe team captured first place in the American Society of Civil Engineers' regional concrete-canoe contest at Lawrence Technological University in Southfield, Mich., April 2-4. The victory qualifies ONU to compete in the national competition in Tuscaloosa, Ala., June 11-13.

ONU Student Wins Ping Award for Community Service

Ohio Northern University junior Katherine Feldhues, a youth ministry and sociology major from Milford, Ohio, has been honored with the 2009 Charles J. Ping Student Community Service Award from Ohio Campus Compact.

Feldhues received a $250 legacy grant as part of the award. Dr. Kendall L. Baker, Ohio Northern University president, nominated Feldhues in recognition of her work as coordinator of the Ada Friends program.

2009 Kritzler Lecture: ‘How to Win a Nobel Prize’

Donald Abraham, Ph.DDonald J. Abraham, Ph. D., will deliver the Ohio Northern University's 2009 Kritzler Lecture, titled "How to Win a Nobel Prize," in Meyer 107 on Wednesday, April 15, at 7 p.m.

ONU Senior Selected as Goldwater Scholar

James GallagherOhio Northern University senior James Gallagher, a physics major from Medina, Ohio, has been selected as a 2009 Goldwater Scholar by the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship Excellence in Education Program. This marks the fifth consecutive year that ONU students have received this honor, the premier undergraduate award of its type in the fields of mathematics, the natural sciences and engineering.

ONU to Host Three-day International Environmental Conference

logo The Ohio Northern University Working Group on Religion, Ethics and Nature (WGREN) will host a three-day international conference titled "Recreate, Replace, Restore: Exploring the Intersections between Meanings and Environments." The conference will take place Friday, April 17, through Sunday, April 19, on the campus of Ohio Northern University.

High School Juniors Invited to ONU Open House

Ohio Northern University will host an open house for high school juniors on Saturday, April 18, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Students will learn about specific ONU programs, meet with current students, faculty and staff, and take tours of campus. A complimentary lunch in the dining hall will also be provided.
