University Singers Tour Includes Ohio Schools and Churches

The University Singers of Ohio Northern University will present their annual fall tour from Wednesday, Oct. 25 through Sunday, Oct. 29, 2006. The home concert will be Sunday, Oct. 29 at 7:00 p.m. in Presser Hall. The 50 -voice choir is under the direction of Dennis L. Kratzer, director of choral activities and professor of music.

Nurses Complete BSN Through Ohio Northern University

Eleven nurses in the Ohio Northern University’s bachelor’s completion program at Lima Memorial Hospital will celebrate successful completion of their Bachelor of Science in Nursing degrees with a special pinning and graduation recognition ceremony at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 23, in the Ballroom of the McIntosh Center, Ohio Northern University.

Tokaji to speak on “The Sordid Business of Democracy”

Daniel P. Tokaji, assistant professor of law at The Ohio State University, will begin the series on September 21, 2006, with a presentation entitled, “The Sordid Business of Democracy,” at 11:30 a.m. in the Moot Court Room (129) of the College of Law.

The events are free and open to the public.

ONU Office of Multicultural Development presents “First Year Focus”

The Ohio Northern University Office of Multicultural Development will present the Harambe Festival and Opening the Way Reception as the first two events of the 2006 First Year Focus developmental series.

The program is designed to acquaint the university community with the Office of Multicultural Development, the Multicultural Center and various multicultural student organizations.

ONU student wins video production competition

Evan Sterling, a senior broadcasting and electronics media student from Sterling, Pa., received first place honors in the Association for Higher Education Association (AHECTA) 2006 Student Production Competition.

Sterling was recognized in the news feature category for his video, “Environment and You: Hybrids.” His video is also a finalist in the College Broadcasters, Inc. student production competition, with the winner to be named at their annual convention in October.

Ohio Northern Names Director of University Communications and Marketing

Carol S. Flax has been named director of university communications and marketing at Ohio Northern University.

In this new position, she will develop and deliver a comprehensive, university-wide communications and marketing program; lead the development of integrated marketing efforts; and supervise the office of University Communications and Marketing.

Ribbon cutting ceremony will commemorate the opening of new campus housing

Ohio Northern University will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony outside the Affinity Housing Complex on August 30 at 11:15 a.m. The ceremony will commemorate the opening of the student housing created in Phase I of ONU’s housing transformation plan.

Ohio Northern University continues to be the highest ranked Ohio university in its category in the U.S. News & World Report annual look at higher education.

ONU is ranked No. 5 among Midwest comprehensive colleges in the 2007 edition of "America's Best Colleges." Comprehensive colleges are defined by U.S. News as institutions that focus on undergraduate education and offer a range of degree programs including liberal arts and professional fields.
