The Ohio Northern University Claude W. Pettit College of Law welcomes 113 first-year students to its juris doctor program. These students will begin orientation on Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009.
Kim Broedel-Zaugg, Ohio Northern University professor of pharmacy practice, received the 2008-09 Outstanding Advisor award at the Kappa Epsilon (KE) 47th National Convention in Indianapolis, Ind., held Aug. 5-9, 2009.
Kristen Finley, an assistant professor of pharmacy practice at Ohio Northern University, has been elected clinical/pharmacotherapeutic member-at-large for the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) under their Academy of Pharmacy Practice and Management (APPM) section.
Finley will be inducted into the two-year position at the annual APhA meeting in Washington, D.C., in March 2010.
The Ohio Fuel Cell Coalition (OFCC), in conjunction with the Ohio Northern University T. J. Smull College of Engineering and the Ohio Energy and Advanced Manufacturing Center, will conduct a fuel cell forum at The Inn at ONU on Friday, Aug. 21, at 9 a.m.
ADA — Ohio Northern University’s “Express Treats” robotic ice cream machine will serve ice cream treats at various Ohio locations in August.
On Aug. 5, the creators of Express Treats will take the robot to serve ice cream at WLIO’s noon broadcast. The robot will also dish up ice cream at the Auglaize County Fair from Aug. 6-8, and will make an appearance at Hefner’s Dairy Barn on Aug. 9 from 1-10 p.m.
At the 2009 Ohio State Fair, Express Treats made its public debut and served free ice cream treats to 1,500 people in three days.
ADA — Ohio Northern University’s Claude W. Pettit College of Law held its fifth United States Supreme Court admission ceremony in Washington, D.C., on June 8.
Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. inducted 33 ONU law graduates as members of the U.S. Supreme Court, one of the largest groups the court has ever had for a swearing-in ceremony. Over 110 alumni, family and guests attended.
ADA — Ohio Northern University’s Raabe College of Pharmacy has established the Sebok Pharmacy Lecture, an endowed annual lecture that will bring leaders of the pharmacy profession to speak at ONU.
The Sebok Pharmacy Lecture is named after Dr. Albert A. Sebok, a 1953 graduate of the College of Pharmacy and one of its most distinguished alumni.
ADA — Elena Helmer, professor of law at Ohio Northern University, has been appointed vice chair of the American Bar Association Section of International Law International Anti-Corruption Committee.
ADA — Ohio Northern University is once again featured as one of the nation’s top schools in The Princeton Review’s annual college guide, “The Best 371 Colleges: 2010 Edition.”
The rankings in the 2010 edition are based on The Princeton Review’s survey of 122,000 students at 371 colleges in the book. The lists report the top-ranked colleges in more than 62 categories covering topics from academics and financial aid to aspects of college life.
Ohio Northern University has entered into the Yellow Ribbon Program, which allows eligible military veterans to attend ONU tuition-free for up to four years beginning in fall 2009.
