Yale Professor in the Practice of Green Chemistry to Speak

Dr. Paul T. Anastas will be the featured guest speaker during the 2009 Keiser Distinguished Lectureship in Life Sciences in Ohio Northern University's Freed Center for the Performing Arts at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 5.

Anastas' topic will be "Green Chemistry, From Here to Sustainability."

ONU Professor Among Co-authors of First 'Crowdsourced' Textbook

Dr. Paul Govekar, assistant professor of management in Ohio Northern University's James F. Dicke College of Business Administration, has co-authored "Management through Collaboration: Teaming in a Networked World," which is scheduled to be published in 2010. Pre-publication copies are available for instructor review.

The introductory management textbook contains contributions from more than 100 different authors and is the world's first to explore the possibilities of collaborating via electronic networking tools.

Ohio Northern Opens Gallery Season

The 2009-10 gallery season at Ohio Northern University will open Sept. 8 with the works of abstract expressionist Tom Connelly.

ONU Teams with Kroger to Offer Flu Shots, Health Screenings

Seasonal flu shots and health screenings will be offered as part of the Ada Harvest and Herb Festival, provided by Kroger Pharmacy and Ohio Northern University's Rudolph H. Raabe College of Pharmacy, nursing program and The James F. Dicke College of Business Administration.

These health services will be offered from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 19, in the atrium of James F. Dicke Hall on South Main Street in Ada.

ONU to Host Ohio Association for College Admission Counseling Event

More than 300 high school counselors and college representatives are expected to attend the Ohio Association for College Admission Counseling (OACAC) Articulation seminar at Ohio Northern University on Sept. 9.

I.D. cards can be picked up in McIntosh Center (if you already had your ID photo taken at Orientation) on Saturday, September 6th from 10am - 4pm and on Sunday, Sept. 5 from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

For your convenience, the ONU Bookstore will be open from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5; 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 6, and 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday - Friday.

ONU Receives Grant to Bolster Entrepreneurship in Engineering

The Kern Foundation has awarded Dr. J.D. Yoder, Ohio Northern University professor of mechanical engineering, a KEEN III grant to expand ONU's entrepreneurship efforts directed at undergraduate engineering students of the T.J. Smull College of Engineering.

The $75,000 grant will fund "The ONU Engineering Experience: 2005-2015," whose primary goal is to develop the College of Engineering with an entrepreneurial mindset.

ONU Named 2009 Tree Campus USA University by Arbor Day Foundation

Tree Campus USAThe Arbor Day Foundation has honored Ohio Northern University as a 2009 Tree Campus USA university for its dedication to campus forestry management and environmental stewardship.

Ohio Northern is the second institution in Ohio to be named a Tree Campus USA campus or university and among a handful in the nation, joining such institutions as Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech.

T.J. Smull College of Engineering Re-accredited

Ohio Northern University's bachelor's degree programs in civil, computer, electrical and mechanical engineering have been re-accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET Inc., and the computer science program was accredited for the very first time by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET Inc., the recognized accreditor of college and university programs in applied science, computing, engineering and technology. ABET accreditation demonstrates a program's commitment to providing its students with a quality education.

Financial Information Student Group Receives National Recognition

The Ohio Northern University James F. Dicke College of Business Administration Mu Delta chapter of Beta Alpha Psi was recognized as a Distinguished Chapter for the 2008-09 year.

Under the leadership of Dexter Woods, Ohio Northern professor of business administration, the Beta Alpha Psi Board of Directors honored the ONU chapter for far exceeding the minimum requirements of Beta Alpha Psi and excelling in the areas of academics, professionalism and leadership.
