College of Law Presents Kormendy Lecture by Columbia Law Professor

Dr. Barbara Aronstein Black, professor emerita of legal history at Columbia Law School, will speak at the Ohio Northern University Pettit College of Law's Kormendy Lecture in the Moot Court Room (129) on Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 11:30 a.m.

Titled "Who Judges? Who Cares? History Now and Then," this event is free and open to the public.

University Singers Announce 2009 Fall Tour

Ohio Northern University's University Singers kick off their annual fall tour in Lima, Ohio, on Sunday, Oct. 25. The tour will conclude with a home concert at Ohio Northern's Presser Hall on Sunday, Nov. 1, at 7 p.m.

TUniversity Singershis 50-voice choir is lead by Dennis L. Kratzer, director of choral activities and professor of music at ONU.

Freed Center Presents ‘Runt of the Litter’

Runt of the LitterThe Ohio Northern University Freed Center for the Performing Arts presents "Runt of the Litter" in the Biggs Theatre on Tuesday, Nov. 3, at 9:30 a.m. and 8 p.m.

An off-Broadway hit written and performed by Bo Eason and directed by Larry Moss, "Runt of the Litter" examines a father's expectations, a son's dream and a brother's rivalry.

The student-centered academic research and learning facility blends hands-on teaching excellence with advanced technology in a functional modern environment.

ONU Addresses Domestic Violence with ‘You the Man’

The Ohio Northern University Freed Center for the Performing Arts presents "You the Man," a one-man show that addresses unhealthy relationships, dating-violence and sexual assault, in the McIntosh Center Ballroom at 1 and 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 13.

Both performances are free and open to the public.

The production's primary goal is to spread awareness so that the community will take an active role in stopping domestic violence.

Legendary Leon Redbone to perform at ONU

The Ohio Northern University Freed Center for Performing Arts presents Leon Redbone in the Biggs Theatre on Saturday, Oct. 17, at 8 p.m.

With his signature sunglasses and Panama hat, Redbone has forged a musical career spanning more than 30 years. Breaking in through the folk scene, Redbone's repertoire ranges from Bob Dylan to Eddy Arnold to tunes from his childhood.

Amy Murray Receives 2009 William L. Robinson Young Alumni Award

Amy (Widner) Murray, who graduated from Ohio Northern University in 1995 with a degree in environmental studies, has been named the recipient of the 2009 William L. Robinson Young Alumni Award.

Ohio Northern University's Pettit College of Law and the Phi Alpha Delta Willis Chapter presents an "Ethics, Professionalism and Substance Abuse" symposium in the Moot Court Room at 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 9.

At 1:10 p.m., Michael D. Schafer will speak on "Trends and Best Practices in Substance Abuse Treatment." Schafer is a clinical psychologist and licensed independent chemical dependency counselor in the state of Ohio. He works as the director of counseling at Ohio Northern.
