Ohio Northern University will develop a four-module curriculum, “Biomass as an Alternative Energy Source,” for the Upper Scioto Valley Wind/Energy Academy in McGuffy, Ohio.

Two students in ONU’s clinical laboratory program have published an article in the Medical Laboratory Observer’s (MLO) LABline, an online newsletter.

The article was written by Camille Limbert from Sidney, Ohio, and Tiffany Seegert, a senior from Sagamore Hills, Ohio, and focuses on a cost effective, non-invasive method for diagnosing celiac disease.  The article was inspired by the fact that Tiffany’s father suffers from the disease but had to endure many years of misdiagnosis and treatment before the correct diagnosis was made.

Ohio Northern University will hold a ribbon-cutting and dedication ceremony for the new Mathile Center for the Natural Sciences at 4 p.m., on Friday, Oct. 16.

The student-centered academic research and learning facility blends hands-on teaching excellence with advanced technology in a functional modern environment.

Dr. Paul T. Anastas will be the featured guest speaker during the 2009 Keiser Distinguished Lectureship in Life Sciences in Ohio Northern University's Freed Center for the Performing Arts at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 5.

Anastas' topic will be "Green Chemistry, From Here to Sustainability."

Seasonal flu shots and health screenings will be offered as part of the Ada Harvest and Herb Festival, provided by Kroger Pharmacy and Ohio Northern University's Rudolph H. Raabe College of Pharmacy, nursing program and The James F. Dicke College of Business Administration.

These health services will be offered from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 19, in the atrium of James F. Dicke Hall on South Main Street in Ada.

The Arbor Day Foundation has honored Ohio Northern University as a 2009 Tree Campus USA university for its dedication to campus forestry management and environmental stewardship.

Ohio Northern is the second institution in Ohio to be named a Tree Campus USA campus or university and among a handful in the nation, joining such institutions as Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech.

Ohio Northern University's women's health class will celebrate National Women's Health Week by hosting women's health events in the Ada and Lima communities from May 10-16.

Donald J. Abraham, Ph. D., will deliver the Ohio Northern University's 2009 Kritzler Lecture, titled "How to Win a Nobel Prize," in Meyer 107 on Wednesday, April 15, at 7 p.m.
