Amy Murray Receives 2009 William L. Robinson Young Alumni Award

Amy (Widner) Murray, who graduated from Ohio Northern University in 1995 with a degree in environmental studies, has been named the recipient of the 2009 William L. Robinson Young Alumni Award.

Additional Details about the Westridge Capital Management Matter

The $10 million invested with Westridge Capital Management was from the General University Endowment and will not affect any individual scholarship or program endowments held by the University. The University endowment is invested with the advice of Hartland & Company of Cleveland that advises universities and other non-profits throughout the Mid-West. Among other services, their professionals recommend managers to the Investment Committee of the Board of Trustees to oversee portions of the University endowment.

As you may know, there have been stories in Ohio newspapers in the past couple of days about Bowling Green State University's $15 million investment in Westbridge Capital Management, Inc. We wanted to let you know that ONU's Endowment had a $10 million investment with this company as well. We have filed a redemption request and our attorneys are working aggressively to retrieve as much of our money as possible. For your information, below is the news release on this matter we will be circulating to the media.

Student Project Wins Engineering Design Competition

The senior capstone project by four ONU civil engineering students, all now 2008 graduates, has won first prize in the 2009 Student Structural Design Competition, sponsored by the Structural Engineering Institute (SEI) of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).

Campus Book Project

As part of ONU's Polar Bear Nation year-long series of events and activities, alumni are invited to participate in the upcoming Campus Book Project.

The ONU community is invited to read the book "Field Notes from a Catastrophe: Man, Nature and Climate Change," by New Yorker journalist and writer, Elizabeth Kolbert who tackles the controversial subject of global warming. Kolbert will be on campus to make a public presentation about her book on March 13 at 7:30 p.m. in the Freed Center for the Performing Arts.

Jason Duff Receives ONU’s 2008 William L. Robinson Young Alumni Award

Jason Duff, BSBA '05, has been named the recipient of the 2008 William L. Robinson Young Alumni Award.

The award is given each year to an individual who is committed to Ohio Northern University, his/her profession and the community. The award is named in honor of Bill Robinson, BSEd '61, Hon. D. '05, H of F '05. Robinson has served ONU for more than 50 years in numerous capacities and has been a positive influence on countless students and alumni.

A huge fireworks display will highlight Ohio Northern University's homecoming weekend festivities on Oct. 17-19.

The fireworks extravaganza will cap a full day of activities on Saturday at 7:45 p.m. A variety of events are scheduled throughout the weekend, which has been billed as "Come Home to Polar Bear Nation."

Micky Dolenz to Perform at ONU Homecoming

The ONU Freed Center for the Performing Arts will feature Micky Dolenz of 1960s rock group The Monkees. Dolenz will perform Saturday, Oct. 18, at 8 p.m. in Biggs Theatre as part of the ONU Homecoming festivities.

Dolenz has been a figure on the entertainment scene for more than 40 years. He was chosen from more than 400 hopefuls to play the role of a singing drummer in "The Monkees," a fictional TV show about a rock ‘n' roll band of the same name. The concept for the show was the Beatles' film "A Hard Day's Night."
