Ohio Northern University to Host U.S.-Japan Summer Camp

U.S. high school students will have the opportunity to learn Japanese, experience Japanese culture and earn college credit at the U.S.-Japan Summer Camp, scheduled from July 19 through Aug. 1 on the Ohio Northern University campus in Ada.

Limited to 20 students (high school freshmen through seniors), the camp is dedicated to fostering scholarship, enhancing language skills and promoting cross-cultural understanding. In addition to academic coursework, students will take part in cultural dinners, discussions and field trips.

Teaching English in Afghanistan

Colonel John J. Smith, West Point professor of English, will discuss "Teaching English at the Military Academy of Afghanistan and the Situation There" in the Ohio Northern University Dicke Forum on Tuesday, Feb. 17, at 7 p.m.

Presented by the ONU Phi Beta International Forum, the event is free and open to the public.

American, Japanese Students Share Cultures at ONU Kasukabe Summer Camp

American and Japanese students will convene at Ohio Northern University for the Kasukabe-U.S. Summer Camp to be held July 24-Aug. 12.

Sixteen American high school students from across the country and 20 Japanese high school students from the Saitama Prefecture in Japan will engage in cultural activities unique to each country. The camp is dedicated to fostering scholarship, enhancing language skills and promoting cross-cultural understanding

Beginning this fall, students at Ohio Northern University will have the option of studying Mandarin Chinese with a professionally trained, native Chinese-speaking instructor.

Ohio Northern Students to Study in South Korea

Ohio Northern University has awarded four fellowships for the Hanyang University Summer program in Seoul South Korea.

Recipients of the awards are Susan Warrington, a fourth-year pharmacy student from Hudson, Ohio; Jessica Riegle, a junior in education and history from Arlington, Ohio; Jarod Patton, a senior in engineering, from Waynesville, Ohio; and Stephanie Wells, a sophomore in political science/Communications from Beavercreek, Ohio.

Ohio Northern Presents Shakespeare with 60s Twist

William Shakespeare's classic comedy Twelfth Night takes to the stage at Ohio Northern University's Freed Center for the Performing Arts for five performances, Feb. 7-10 at 8 p.m. and Feb. 11 at 2 p.m.
