‘Field Notes from a Catastrophe’ Author to Speak

KolbertElizabeth Kolbert, respected journalist and author of "Field Notes from a Catastrophe: Man, Nature, and Climate Change," will speak at Ohio Northern University on Friday, March 13, at 7:30 p.m. in the Freed Center for the Performing Arts. A book signing and reception will take place after the presentation. In addition to speaking, Kolbert will spend the day on campus meeting with students majoring in environmental studies, professional writing and journalism.

Sinfully Funny: ‘Late Nite Catechism’ Comes to ONU

Late NiteOhio Northern University's Freed Center for the Performing Arts presents "Late Nite Catechism," a wholesome yet hysterical refresher on the finer points of Catholicism. This interactive comedy show takes place Saturday, March 14, at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.

‘Cabaret’ Heats up ONU Stage

The Ohio Northern University Freed Center for the Performing Arts presents the Tony Award-winning musical "Cabaret." Performances begin Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 8 p.m., with a pre-show discussion at 7:15 p.m. Additional performances take place Thursday, Feb. 12, at 8 p.m.; Friday, Feb. 13, at 8 p.m.; Saturday, Feb. 14, at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.; and Sunday, Feb. 15, at 2 p.m. All showings will be in the Stambaugh Studio Theatre.

Dance Company Collaborates with Verb Ballets

Verb Ballets joins forces with the Ohio Northern University Dance Company for an evening of contemporary dance in the Freed Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, Jan. 31. A pre-show discussion begins at 7:15 p.m., followed by the performance at 8 p.m. A second performance takes place Sunday, Feb. 1, at 2 p.m.

‘The Kite Runner’ Comes to ONU's Stage

Ohio Northern University's Freed Center for the Performing Arts, in conjunction with local schools, presents the stage production of the New York Times best-selling novel "The Kite Runner." The performance will take place Saturday, Jan. 24, at 8 p.m. in Biggs Theatre, with a pre-show discussion at 7:15 p.m. and a post-show discussion following.

Written by Khaled Hosseini, "The Kite Runner" tells the story of Amir, a boy from Kabul haunted by the guilt of betraying his childhood friend Hassan, the son of his father's Hazara servant.

ONU Presents Thought-provoking Drama

The Ohio Northern University Freed Center for the Performing Arts presents "A.H. (before he changed our history)," a one-man play that explores the life of Adolf Hitler. The performance will take place Saturday, Jan. 15, at 8 p.m. in the Stambaugh Studio Theatre, with a pre-show discussion at 7:15 p.m.

Freed Center Collects Books, Promotes Literacy

Ohio Northern University's Freed Center for the Performing Arts has joined with Time Warner Cable to collect children's books for local libraries, hospitals and schools. The goal is to donate more than 700 books to promote literacy.

Beginning Dec. 3, red drop-off boxes will be situated across ONU and the Ada community. Both new and gently used books - for all ages - are welcome. The book drive will continue until Dec. 23.

Ohio Northern University Presents ‘Holiday Spectacular’

The Ohio Northern University departments of theatre and music will present the 14th annual ONU Holiday Spectacular at the Freed Center for the Performing Arts. Performances are Friday, Dec. 5, at 8 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 6, at 2 and 8 p.m.; and Sunday, Dec. 7, at 2 p.m. The show also will be presented at the Veterans Memorial Civic and Convention Center in Lima on Friday, Dec. 12, at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 13, at 2 and 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, Dec. 14, at 2 p.m.

‘About Face’ at ONU to Deliver Last Laugh Before Election

With the presidential election just days away, the Ohio Northern University's Freed Center for the Performing Arts presents the political satire "About Face." The show debuts Wednesday, Oct. 29, at 8 p.m. with a pre-show discussion at 7:15 p.m. Subsequent performances will be Thursday, Oct. 30, through Saturday, Nov.1 at 8 p.m.; and Saturday, Nov. 1, and Sunday, Nov. 2, both at 2 p.m.
