TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Freshman Alison Steinbrunner finished 6th out of 231 runners to lead the Ohio Northern women's cross country team to a 10th place finish out of 34 teams at the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional Championships Saturday morning at the LaVern Gibson Cross Country Course.

WILMINGTON — Freshman Alison Steinbrunner became the first Ohio Northern women’s cross country runner to win the Ohio Athletic Conference individual title, leading ONU to a third place finish at the OAC Championships on Saturday morning.

The Polar Bears (46-27) finished third with 83 points in the 10-team field.

OBERLIN - The Ohio Northern women’s cross country team finished 12th out of 25 at the 6,000-meter course at the Inter Regional Rumble hosted by Oberlin on Saturday.

The Polar Bears (39-25) were led by freshman Alison Steinbrunner, who finished fifth out of 172 runners in a school-record time of 21:50.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. —  Freshman Alison Steinbrunner shattered the Ohio Northern school record, leading the Polar Bears women's cross country team to a sixth place finish at the the Calvin (Mich.) Cross Country Knight Invititational on Saturday.

Mike Scott named assistant Cross Country, Track & Field coach at Ohio Northern

ADA —  Mike Scott has been named an assistant coach with the men's and women's cross country and track & field programs at Ohio Northern University.

Scott comes to ONU after a two-year stint as an assistant coach at the University of Central Missouri in 2007 and 2008.

He has also served as head men's track & field coach at Southern Boone County (Mo.) HS and was an assistant coach for track & field for Rock Bridge HS in Columbia, Mo.

ADA — Ohio Northern freshman Alison Steinbrunner (New Carlisle/Tecumseh) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week.

Steinbrunner won the Division III race and was fourth out of 153 runners overall at the Mel Brodt Invitational at Bowling Green State University on Saturday.

Steinbrunner finished in 18:35, which tied for the second-fastest time in ONU women's cross country history, in just her second collegiate race.

BOWLING GREEN - Ohio Northern's women's cross country team finished seventh out of 13 teams overall and second out of five among NCAA Division III teams at the Bowling Green Mel Brodt Invitational Saturday afternoon.

The Polar Bears (3-5) defeated six other teams, including NCAA Division I schools Marshall and Cleveland State and OAC rivals Wilmington and Heidelberg, with an overall score of 178 points.

AKRON — The Ohio Northern women's cross country team opened its 2009 season by finishing fifth in the 5,000-mile course in the Tommy Evans Invitational at University of Akron.

The Polar Bears (0-4) finished with 88 points in the field made up entirely of NCAA Division I teams.
