About the winery: Pietra Santa is a family owned and operated estate that produces artisanal wines and olive oils in California’s central coast valley. The estates winemaking history dates back to the 1850’s when it was founded by Frenchman Theophile Vache. Pietra Santa is located 25 miles due east from Monterey Bay and benefits for the cool coastal breezes that allow for a long growing season. The estate is bisected by the San Andres Fault, which provides soils that are rich with granite and limestone that naturally lowers yields and adds distinctive flavors to the wines. The estate consist of 450 acres but due to mountainous terrain, only farms 165 of them; 140 are planted with grapes and 25 are planted with certified olive trees. The oldest vines are Zinfandel that date back to 1905.Multiple Microclimates allows the winery to grow a wide variety of different grapes. Beautiful white wines, Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio and full bodied and structured red wines; Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese and Zinfandel are produced well in our valley.
