Get Involved with Polar Bear Nation

Four student led committees are the task forces for Polar Bear Nation. The focus and goals of each are: Celebrations, Community Building, Education and Environment. Find out how you can participate!

The Education Committee

The education committee has been working with the various colleges of the University to promote polar bear awareness. Plans so far include presentations, flyers, announcements at athletic events, guest speakers, and a book club. The committee wishes to inform everyone on campus about the life of the polar bear, and about the precarious situation it faces as the issue of global warming looms ever larger.

Celebrations Committee

Throughout this year, the Polar Bear Nation committee wants the Ohio Northern University family to celebrate the existence of our mascot! The Celebrations Committee wants each of the events that are run throughout this year to be enjoyable, while continuing to educate those in attendance why it is so important to support continued education and research about the polar bear.

Environmental Committee

With the many environmental issues that are already taking place, it is important that our students continue to educate themselves and others about these issues. The Environmental Committee strives to educate the ONU community about the environmental issues are affecting the polar bears in their natural environment.
