Swimming & Diving teams to open 2010-11 seasons Oct. 30 with OAC meet at John Carroll

ADA — The Ohio Northern men's and women's swimming & diving teams will open their 2010-11 seasons with an Ohio Athletic Conference dual meet at John Carroll on Saturday, Oct. 30.
The Polar Bears will open the home portion of their schedules Friday, Nov. 5, against OAC foe Wilmington at the ONU Sports Center.
Seven student/athletes named to Academic All-OAC Women's At-Large team

ADA — Seven Ohio Northern student/athletes were named to the Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference Women's At-Large team for 2009-10 in voting conducted by the league's 10 faculty advisors.
Six Polar Bears, senior diver/golfer Terri Lynn Shigle, senior swimmers Katherine Moore and Jillian Huber, junior swimmer Hannah Bukowy, sophomore swimmer Alison Garbash and junior tennis player Kristin Timperman were named Academic All-OAC, while sophomore swimmer Sarah Fiffick was named Honorable Mention Academic All-OAC.
Women's Swimming & Diving wins third OAC Championships crown in last four years

AKRON -- The Ohio Northern women’s swimming and diving team clinched its third OAC Championship in four years at the U of Akron’s Ocasek Natatorium Saturday evening.
ONU finished first with 256.5 points, just ahead of Mount Union’s score of 224.

• Have won 16 consecutive OAC Regular Season meets
• Northern women won 14 of the 20 events at the 2009 OAC Championships

• Michelle Eggers was the 2009 OAC Women's Swimmer of the Year
• Lacey Shumate was the 2007 OAC Women's Swimmer of the Year
• Head coach Peggy Ewald and her staff were named the 2009 OAC Women's Coaching Staff of the Year
• 21 OAC Women's Swimmers of the Week
• 10 of 20 OAC Records are held by Ohio Northern swimmers and relay teams
