Kaitlin Sanders named First Team Academic All-America, Academic All-OAC in Women's Soccer

ADA - Junior midfielder Kaitlin Sanders (Kendallville, Ind./East Noble) has been selected ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA First Team Academic All-America in Women’s Soccer for 2008 in voting conducted by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

She was also named First Team Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-District IV this year.

As a sophomore in 2007, Sanders was named Third Team Acdemic All-District as well as First Team Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference.

Women's Soccer has four First Team, five total All-OAC selections

ADA — The Ohio Northern women’s soccer team had four players named First Team All-OAC and five total players earn conference recognition.

Seniors Katie Schaadt, Kristin Reininger and Erin Stapp and junior Kaitlin Sanders were all selected First Team All-OAC.

Schaadt was also awarded OAC Defender of the Year, while Sanders was named OAC Midfielder of the Year.

Schaadt earned All-OAC honors all four years of her career, as she was named Second Team as a freshman and First Team in her final three seasons.

Women’s Soccer knocked out of OAC Tournament 2-0 in finals by #16 Otterbein

WESTERVILLE — No. 16-ranked Ottrbein scored in the 20th and 60th minutes to defeat Ohio Northern 2-0 in the finals of the Ohio Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Tournament Saturday afternoon at Clements Field.

The second-seeded Polar Bears fall to 14-6-1, while the OAC Regular Season champion and top-seeded Cardinals improve to 16-1-2.

ADA -- This weekend is Championships Weekend at Ohio Northern, as the Polar Bear Volleyball, Men's Soccer and Women's Soccer teams will all compete for Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament championships Friday and Saturday.

The No. 8-ranked ONU volleyball squad will host the OAC Tournament Semifinals Friday night and the finals on Saturday at the ONU Sports Center.

On Saturday, Northern will host the OAC Men's Soccer Tournament finals at the ONU Soccer Field and the Polar Bears will play in the OAC Women's Soccer Tournament finals at Otterbein.

The three titles would give Ohio Northern teams six Conference championships this fall, as the ONU Men's and Women's Cross Country teams swept their OAC titles last weekend at Marietta and the ONU Volleyball team has already secured the OAC Regular Season title.

ADA — Erin Stapp scored twice in a span of 1:33 to lead the Ohio Northern women’s soccer team to a 4-0 victory over Wilmington in the semifinals of the Ohio Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Tournament Thursday afternoon at the ONU Soccer Field.
