Grapplers post 2-2 record at Monon Bell Classic

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind., -- The Ohio Northern wrestling team posted a 2-2 record at the Monon Bell Duals at Wabash (Ind.) on Saturday.

The Polar Bears (9-11 overall) defeated Trine (Ind.) 19-15 and fell to Division II Indianapolis (Ind.) 21-18 Saturday morning. Northern then topped Knox (Ill.) 35-6 and fell to Muskegon (Mich.) Community College 26-15 Saturday afternoon.

Luke Miller went 3-0 and Drew Michel, Mick Letcher and Matt Alexander each went 3-1 on the day.

Swick wins, but No. 12 Heidelberg bests Wrestling in battle of league leaders

ADA -- Collin Swick posted a victory at 174 pounds, but No. 12-ranked Heidelberg posted a 36-3 victory over Ohio Northern in a battle of Ohio Athletic Conference wrestling front-runners Tuesday night at the ONU Sports Center.

The Polar Bears fall to 7-9 overall and 2-1 in Ohio Athletic Conference action, while the Student Princes improve to 7-3, 4-0.

Swick dominated Dayne Williams at 174 to account for the Polar Bears' scoring. Swick took an early 6-1 after the first round, and extended his lead to 8-3 after the second round.

Wrestlers stay unbeaten in OAC action with 35-3 victory at Muskingum

NEW CONCORD — The Ohio Northern wrestling team remained undefeated in Ohio Athletic Conference dual meet action with a 35-3 victory at Muskingum Tuesday night at the Muskingum Recreation Center.

The Polar Bears improve to 7-8 overall and stay unbeaten in the Ohio Athletic Conference at 2-0, while the Muskies fall to 3-5, 0-2.

With the victory Ohio Northern improves to 47-10 in the 10-year history of the OAC regular season duals, in its current format, with four of the previous nine regular season conference titles.

Wrestling falls twice to ranked competition at National Duals

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — The Ohio Northern wrestling team dropped a pair of dual matches to two ranked opponents, falling to No. 3 Delaware Valley (Pa.) 46-0 and No. 24 Heidelberg 34-4 Saturday and the National Duals on the campus of Northern Iowa.

The Polar Bears also dropped a 21-16 decision to Buena Vista (Iowa).

Ohio Northern falls to 6-8 on year.

The Polar Bears wrestled with a makeshift lineup as four starters did not make the trip due to nagging injuries.

Ron Beaschler notches 200th coaching victory as Wrestlers top Wilmington in OAC opener

WILMINGTON -- Head coach Ron Beaschler notched the 200th dual meet victory in his 21-year career at Ohio Northern, as the Polar Bears defeated Wilmington 34-12 Tuesday night at Fred Razik Arena.

Ohio Northern improves to 6-5 overall and is 1-0 in Ohio Athletic Conference play, while the Quakers fall to 3-2, 1-1.
