Luke Miller wins OAC Wrestling Championship at 157 pounds, advances to NCAA's

NEW CONCORD -- Sophomore Luke Miller won the OAC championship at 157 to advance to the NCAA National Championships and earned Wrestler of the Year honors at the 2009 Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament Saturday at Muskingum's Rec Center.

Alexander leads Wrestlers to 27-12 victory over No. 23 John Carroll on Senior Night

ADA -- Freshmen Matt Alexander upset the defending Ohio Athletic Conference champion at 184 pounds to lead the Ohio Northern wrestling team to a 27-12 victory over No. 23-ranked John Carroll on Senior Night Tuesday night at the ONU Sports Center.

The Polar Bears clinched their 38th winning season in the 44-year history of their program with a 12-11 record and finish in second place in the Ohio Athletic Conference with a 5-1 record.

The Blue Streaks fall to 10-6, 3-3.

Wrestlers improve to 4-1 in OAC action with 23-16 victory over Mount Union

ADA -- The Ohio Northern wrestling team won the six matches of the night to build a 23-0 lead and went on to defeat Mount Union 23-16 Tuesday night at the ONU Sports Center.

The Polar Bears improve to 11-11 overall and 4-1 in Ohio Athletic Conference action, while the Purple Raiders fall to 3-4, 2-2.

David Penny started off the night with a win over Justin Toth at 125. Penny used nine near fall points to power his way to the 13-3 major decision.

WHEATON, Ill. --  Jeff Penny and Luke Miller each placed in their respective weight classes to lead the Ohio Northern wrestling team at the Pete Willson Invitational at Wheaton College Friday and Saturday.

Seventh-seeded Jeff Penny placed fifth at the 133-pound weight class to post the highest finish for the Polar Bears.

Wrestlers move to 3-1 in OAC action with 37-8 victory at Baldwin-Wallace

BEREA  — The Ohio Northern wrestling team got back-to-back-to-back pins and went on to post a 31-8 Ohio Athletic Conference victory at Baldwin-Wallace Tuesday night at Ursprung Gymnasium.

The Polar Bears improve to 10-11 overall and are 3-1 in OAC action, while the Yellow Jackets fall to 2-19, 0-5.

Joe Spooner, Mick Letcher and Luke Miller each collected pins at 141, 149 and 157 pounds to give Ohio Northern a 24-0 lead after the first five weight classses.
