Annette Shepherd is in her seventh season as the head softball coach at Ohio Northern University.
Shepherd is only the third head coach in the 33-year history of the softball program.
She is also a lecturer in the ONU human performance and sport sciences department.
Her teams have posted a 150-88-1 record, a winning percentage of .630.
In 2009, Shepherd led the Polar Bears to the best season in school history, posting a 39-6 record overall, a 16-2 record in the OAC and earning OAC Coaching Staff of the Year honors.
Northern won the 2007 and 2009 OAC Regular Season Championships and claimed the 2009 OAC Tournament title.
The 2009 Polar Bears also won the NCAA Greencastle Regional and advanced to the NCAA Division III World Series.
She has led ONU to the OAC Tournament four times in her six years as head coach.
Shepherd served as interim head softball coach in 2004 and as an assistant with the ONU softball team from 2001-03.
She played softball at the University of Maryland and helped the Terps to the Atlantic Coast Conference championship as team captain in 1997.
She batted leadoff and played first base for the Terrapins and was voted the Academic Player of the Year at Maryland in 1997.

She was an assistant basketball and softball coach at Seneca Valley (Md.) High School in 1998 and 1999 where she taught special education classes.
She also played on the United States Kayak/Polo Team in 2000.
She resides near Ada with her husband, Jeremy, and their daughter Skye.
Education:
Shepherd graduated from Maryland with a B.S. in Health Education in 1997 and received her master’s of science degree in Parks, Recreation, and Resource Management from Frostburg State (Md.) in 2003.
