Liz Schnelle named AVCA First Team All-America for the second straight season

ADA — Senior middle hitter Liz Schnelle has been named an American Volleyball Coaches Association First Team All-American for the second consecutive season.

This also marks the third straight time she has earned All-America honors, as Schnelle was named AVCA Third Team All-America as a sophomore in 2007.

ADA — Seniors Liz Schnelle and Liz Decima have both been named to the 2009 Volleyball Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference team in voting conducted by the OAC faculty representatives.

Schnelle earned Academic All-OAC, while Decima earned Honorable Mention Academic All-OAC.

For Schnelle, this is the third consecutive season that she has been named Academic All-OAC, as she has already been named CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine First Team Academic All-District earlier in the year.

HOLLAND, Mich. - The No. 5 Ohio Northern volleyball took Set 1, but Hope (Mich.) defeated the Polar Bears 3-1 in the Great Lakes Regional Championship Saturday evening at the DeVos Fieldhouse.

The Polar Bears end their season with a 30-4 record, while the Flying Dutch improve to 33-3.

HOLLAND, Mich. - Senior Liz Schnelle was nearly unstoppable with 27 kills and a .453 hitting percentage, leading the No. 5 Ohio Northern volleyball team past North Central (Ill.) 25-12, 22-25, 25-20, 25-16 Friday evening at the DeVos Fieldhouse.

HOLLAND, Mich. - Senior Sharon Guzik's career-best offensive match helped the No. 6 Ohio Northern volleyball team defeat Bluffton 3-1 in the First Round of the NCAA Division III Volleyball Championship Thursday afternoon at the DeVos Fieldhouse.

Ohio Northern is now 29-3 on the year, while Bluffton ends its season at 27-6.
