    TIFFIN -- No. 6-ranked Ohio Northern defeated Mount Union 25-27, 25-18, 25-20 in the semifinals of the 2009 Ohio Athletic Conference Volleyball Tournament Friday night at Heidelberg's Sieberling Gymnasium.

    The third-seeded Polar Bears improve to 27-3, while the second-seeded Purple Raiders fall to 22-6.

    ADA — Senior All-American Liz Schnelle (New Bremen) has been selected CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine First Team Academic All-District IV.

    As a junior last season, Schnelle earned Second Team Academic All-District honors.

    She has also been named First Team Academic All-OAC for the past two seasons.

    Schnelle has had a remarkable career at Ohio Northern, ranking in Ohio Northern's all-time top 10 in kills, attacks, attack percentage, solo blocks and total blocks.

    ADA - The No. 6 Ohio Northern volleyball team defeated John Carroll in a three-set sweep Tuesday evening at the ONU Sports Center to earn a berth into the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals.

    The Polar Bears (26-3) are the No. 3 seed in the tournament, while the Blue Streaks (12-17) were the No. 6 seed.
