No. 6 Ohio Northern defeats Muskingum 8-4 in second game of OAC Softball Tournament

ADA --  No. 6-ranked Ohio Northern defeated Muskingum 8-4 in the second game of the 2009 Ohio Athletic Conference Softball Tournament Saturday afternoon at the ONU Softball Field.

The top-seeded Polar Bears (33-3) advance to the semifinals against second-seeded John Carroll at 3 pm on Friday.

OAC Softball Tournament postponed one day to Saturday and Sunday because of rain

ADA - The 2009 Ohio Athletic Conference Softball Tournament hosted by Ohio Northern has been postponed one day because the rain has made the field unplayable for the time being.

Instead of beginning on Friday and concluding on Saturday, the tournament will now begin on Saturday and end on Sunday.

The same format will be used with the only change being the days of the competition.

Cortney Cash named OAC Softball Pitcher of the Week for the second consecutive week

ADA — Ohio Northern junior Cortney Cash was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 20-26.

Cash posted a 4-0 record with a 1.08 ERA as the Polar Bears won the OAC Regular Season title with sweeps of Muskingum and Wilmington. ONU also split a non-conference twin-bill with Anderson (Ind.) last week.

Cash threw a 1-hit shutout in a 10-0 win over Wilmington and had 25 strikeouts and only five walks in 26 innings of work.

ADA --  No. 11-ranked Ohio Northern got a pair of home runs, including a grand slam, and nine RBI from Tina Mangola to sweep Wilmington 10-0, 10-2 in an Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader Sunday afternoon at the ONU Softball Field.

The Polar Bears improve to 32-3 overall, 16-2 in OAC play, while the Quakers fall to 7-25, 0-18.

No. 11 Softball secures outright OAC Regular Season Championship with sweep over Muskingum

NEW CONCORD - The No. 11-ranked Ohio Northern softball team secured the Ohio Athletic Conference Regular Season Championship with a 7-2, 8-1 sweep on the road at Muskingum Saturday afternoon.

ONU's sweep coupled with a loss by John Carroll gave the Polar Bears the title with two OAC games remaining.
