Ohio Northern advances to OAC Tournament finals with 5-3 semifinal victory over John Carroll

MASON — Ohio Northern men's tennis team advanced to the finals of the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament with a 5-3 semifinal victory over John Carroll Friday morning at the Lindner Tennis Center.

The top-seeded Polar Bears improve to 16-4, while the fourth-seeded Blue Streaks end their season at 7-6.

Ohio Northern/John Carroll advances to the OAC Tournament Finals Saturday at 10 am, against second-seeded Baldwin-Wallace, who topped third-seeded Mount Union 5-0 in the other semifinal on Friday.

No. 1 seed Ohio Northern men’s tennis team advanced to the semifinals in the Ohio Athletic ConferenceWednesday afternoon after beating No. 8 seed Capital 5-0.

With the victory the Polar Bears improve to 15-4, and the Crusaders fall to 4-13.

Seniors Micah Scott and Bart Schenck earned their 21st victory this season at No. 1 doubles 8-1.

Juniors Ryan Paul and Jay Vaidya won at No. 2 doubles 8-5 and senior Thomas Major and freshman Jeff Carter completed the sweep in doubles competition with an 8-3 victory at No. 3 doubles.

The Ohio Northern men’s tennis team earned its third consecutive regular season title in the Ohio Athletic Conference and will enter the OAC Tournament as the No. 1 seed as they beat Mount Union 5-4 Saturday afternoon.

With the victory, Ohio Northern improves to 14-4 and 9-0 in the OAC while Mount Union falls to 17-4, 7-2.

Micah Scott becomes ONU's all-time career wins leader

BEREA — Senior Micah Scott became the all-time career leader in victories and the Ohio Northern men’s tennis team won its seventh match in a row and clinched a share of the Ohio Athletic Conference regular season title after beating Baldwin-Wallace 6-3 Wednesday afternoon.

With the victory, the Polar Bears improve to 13-4 and 8-0 in the OAC, and Baldwin-Wallace falls to 17-4, 7-1.

Schenck joins elite 100-win club as MTennis beats Otterbein 8-1

Senior Bart Schenck became the 13th member of Ohio Northern’s elite 100-win club as the Polar Bears beat Ohio Athletic Conference foe Otterbein 8-1 Saturday afternoon.

With the victory, Ohio Northern improves to 12-4 and 7-0 in the OAC while Otterbein falls to 4-8, 2-3.

Schenck earned career victory No. 100, winning at No. 1 doubles with partner, junior Ryan Paul, 8-4, and victory No. 101 at No. 1 singles in straight sets 6-1, 6-0.
