SPRINGFIELD — The Ohio Northern men's golf team wrapped up its 2009 fall schedule with a solid fourth place finish at the 36-hole Wittenberg Invitational on Tuesday at Windy Knoll Golf Course.
The Polar Bears (17-23) finished with a 319-319—638 to finish fourth out of 11 varsity teams.
Junior Tom Repicky led the Polar Bears with a season-low 78-79—157 on the Par-71, 6,834-yard course to finish tied for 18th out of 82 golfers.
ADA — Heavy rains Thursday and Friday morning have forced the cancellation of the 2009 ONU Fall Invitational men's golf tournament Friday at Colonial Golfers Club.
The golf course was unplayable due to continuing heavy rains that began mid-day Thursday, continued all night are were expected to continue throughout the day on Friday.
The Polar Bears will wrap up their fall schedule on Tuesday at the Wittenberg Invitational.
ALLIANCE -- Freshman Travis Ballinger fired a 79-74--153 to lead the Ohio Northern men's golf team at the two-day, 36-hole Mount Union Fall Invitational Sunday and Monday.
The Polar Bears (10-20) followed up a slow start on Sunday at the Tannenhauf Golf Course with an outstanding round Monday at the Alliance Country Club to finish ninth of 11 team with a 326-307--633.
Northern had the fourth-best round on Monday with a 27-over par 307.
MEDINA -- Joel Metzker fired a 77-78--155 to lead the Ohio Northern men's golf team to a fifth place finish out of 11 teams at the Ohio Athletic Conference Fall Invitational Sunday and Monday at the Fox Meadow Country Club.
Metzker finished 12 out of 64 golfers with an 11-over par score on the Par-72, 6917-yard course.
DELAWARE -- The Ohio Northern men's golf team opened its 2009-10 season with a ninth place finish at the 36-hole Ohio Wesleyan Fall Intercollegiate tournament Tuesday.
The Polar Bears (2-8) finished with a 323-334--657.
Ohio Wesleyan won the team title with a 296-299--595, Transylvania (Ky.) was second with a 301-298--599 and John Carroll was third with a 306-302--608.
