Men's Golf to open 2010 Fall season at Defiance Invitational

ADA — The Ohio Northern men's golf team will open its 2010 Fall schedule Sept. 18 at Jon Speiss Memorial Tournament at Defiance.

The Polar Bears, under third-year head coach Chad Bostelman, will also travel to John Carroll for the OAC Fall Invitational on Sept.18.

ONU will also play tournaments at Capital on Sept. 24-25 and Wittenberg on Oct. 203 and will host the annual ONU Fall Invitational on Oct. 8.

ADA — The Ohio Northern men’s golf team posted a third place finish at the OAC Championships for the second time in the past three seasons after accomplishing the feat in 2010 under second-year head coach Chad Bostelman.

The Polar Bears finished tied for third place with a 311-309-620, led by All-Conference performances by juniors Tom Repicky and Phil Makowski.

Repicky finished tied for eighth with a 75-77—152 and Makowski was in a four-way tie for tenth place with a 78-75—153.

ALLIANCE -- Juniors Tom Repicky and Phil Makowski earned All-OAC honors with top-10 finishes, leading Ohio Northern to a third place finish at the 2010 Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championships Saturday at Tannenhauf Golf Club.

Men's Golf Highlights

• 18 Upper-Division finishes at the OAC Championships meet

• 19 All-Ohio Athletic Conference honorees

• School Record holder Andrew Rahrig (4-Under Par)

• Ben Kretz averaged a school-record low 76.0 in 2008-09

• 2008-09 squad set a school record with a 316.4 average

• 7-time Mid-Ohio League Champions (1959, 55, 54, 53, 52, 51, 50)

• Won 6 consecutive Mid-Ohio League titles from 1950-55
