Paul Dean Paul is in his sixth season as head coach at Ohio Northern.

Paul energized the ONU football program in 2004, leading the Polar Bears to an 8-2 record and a No. 19 national ranking in his first season as head coach.

In his first four seasons at Ohio Northern, Paul has had the Polar Bears in the national rankings each season.

In 10 seasons as a head football coach at the NCAA Division III level, Paul has posted a 74-28 record, a winning percentage of .725.

Paul came to ONU after five highly successful seasons at Thomas More College in Crestview Hills, Ky.

He guided the Saints to a 40-12 (.769) record over his five seasons and ranks eighth among the nation's leaders in winning percentage among active coaches.

In 2003, TMC won five of its last six games to finish 6-4, its fifth consecutive winning season under Paul.

Paul led Thomas More to the 2001 playoffs, where the Saints defeated MacMurray 34-30 in the first round before falling to Wittenberg in the second round.

Beginning with his first season in 1999, Paul led TMC to a 7-3 record after having posted just a 3-7 mark the previous year. The team's record was the sixth-best turnaround in Division III that season, an improvement of four games. Thomas More's seven wins marked the most by a first-year head coach in program history and the most by the team since 1995.

In 2000, the Saints went 9-1 and were ranked No. 28 by the American Football Coaches Association.

Paul guided his 2001 team to a perfect 10-0 regular-season record, the third in school history as the team outscored its opponents by an overwhelming 389-133 margin. TMC finished 11-1 and a final ranking of No. 18 by the AFCA. The 20-2 record over those two seasons is the best in TMC history, as is the Saints' 17-game winning streak during that time.

Under Paul's direction, Thomas More has had 17 All-America selections in his five seasons as head coach.

In the classroom, the team improved its overall grade point average from a 2.25 to a 2.68 in just the first three semesters under Paul. This past spring, the football team had a combined grade point average of 2.70, the highest in the 13-year history of the program, a span of 26 semesters.

In 2002, he also served as voting member on the AFCA Division III Coaches' Poll.

A four-year letterman at Mount Union, he was named All-Ohio Athletic Conference in 1988 and 1990 and served as a team captain during his junior and senior seasons.
