Gehle, Cannan and Meyer named All-Ohio Athletic Conference

Ohio Northern senior wing Kyle Gehle (Versailles), junior post Jake Cannan (Dublin /Coffman) and sophomore post Kyle Meyer (Columbus Grove) were named All-Ohio Athletic Conference in men's basketball for the 2007-08 season.

Gehle was a Second Team honoree, while Cannan and Meyer were on the Honorable Mention All-OAC squad.

Gehle led the Polar Bears in scoring at 16.1 ppg and in made 3-pointers with 63.

In his 104-game career, Gehle scored 1,250 points, ranking him 16th all-time at ONU. He also ranks eighth with 171 made 3-pointers.

Senior guard Kyle Gehle named to OAC All-Tournament Team

Ohio Northern senior guard Kyle Gehle was named to the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Basketball All-Tournament Team Saturday night.

Gehle led the Polar Bears with 34 points in their two OAC Tournament games. He scored 16 in Northern's 79-68 win over Muskingum in the quarterfinals Wednesday and had a team-high 18 in its 81-76 overtime loss at Capital in the semifinals on Friday.

Gehle led the Polar Bears in scoring at 16.1 ppg and in made 3-pointers with 63.

No. 13 Capital edges Ohio Northern 81-76 in overtime thriller in OAC Semifinals

The Ohio Northern men's basketball team saw its 2007-08 season come to an end in a thrilling 81-76 loss at No. 13 Capital in the semifinals of the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament at the Capital Center Friday night.

The fourth-seeded Polar Bears end their season with a 15-12 record, while top-seeded Capital improves to 23-4.

Capital advances to the OAC Tournament finals on Saturday night at the Cap Center to face second-seeded Heidelberg, who topped sixth-seeded Baldwin-Wallace 99-80 in the first semifinal game.

Kyle Meyer named OAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week

MeyerADA - Sophomore Kyle Meyer (Columbus Grove) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 4-10.

Meyer averaged 21 points and 8.5 rebounds per game as the Polar Bears (13-8 overall, 9-5 OAC) defeated Otterbein 103-74 and John Carroll 90-81 last week.

Kyle Gehle named OAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week

ADA - Senior Kyle Gehle was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Dec. 10-16.

Gehle averaged 26 points in two OAC wins over Otterbein, 78-72 and John Carroll 102-97 in two overtimes.

Against JCU, Gehle turned in perhaps his best game as a Polar Bear, scoring a career-high 37 points on 23-of-27 from the free throw line. The 23 free throws are single-game ONU record.

He made the bulk of his free throws when it counted, knocking down 12-of-15 in the two overtime periods.
