Jake Heaphy named OAC Football Special Teams Player of the Week for second consecutive week

ADA — Junior punter/kicker Jake Heaphy (Dublin/Jerome) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Football Special Teams Player of the Week for the second consecutive week for his efforts in Ohio Northern’s 36-21 victory over Capital on Saturday.

Heaphy averaged 38.4 yards on his four punts, two of which were downed inside the Capital 20-yard line.

He also made three of four extra point attempts and was one of two on field goals, making a 22-yarder and just missing on a 45-yarder.

ADA — Brent Donley ran for a career-high 163 yards, leading Ohio Northern to a 36-21 Ohio Athletic Conference football victory over Capital Saturday afternoon at Dial-Roberson Stadium.

The Polar Bears improve to 4-5 overall and 4-4 in OAC action after winning for the fourth time in the last five games.

The Crusaders fall to 5-4, 4-4.

ADA — Junior punter/kicker Jake Heaphy (Dublin/Jerome) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Football Special Teams Player of the Week for his efforts in Ohio Northern’s 10-7 loss at Baldwin-Wallace on Saturday.

Heaphy averaged 42.6 yards on his seven punts, which included a career-high 64-yard punt and a 59-yard effort.

He also made his only extra point attempt.

This season, Heaphy is averaging 38.9 yards for his 40 punts this season with nine punts downed inside the opponent’s 20-yard line.

BEREA -- Baldwin-Wallace held off a frantic fourth quarter comeback attempt by Ohio Northern to post a 10-7 Ohio Athletic Conference football victory Saturday afternoon at George Finnie Stadium.

The Yellow Jackets improve to 4-4 overall and 4-3 in OAC action, while the Polar Bears fall to 3-5, 3-4.

Josh Horn named OAC Football Defensive Player of the Week

ADA — Junior defensive end Josh Horn (Franklin) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Football Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in Ohio Northern’s 21-14 victory at John Carroll on Saturday.

Horn had career-highs of 10 tackles, 3.0 sacks and 3.5 tackles for loss, leading a dominant defensive performance in the Polar Bears’ third consecutive victory.

Northern’s defense registered seven quarterback sacks, limiting the Blue Streaks’ high-powered offense to 261 yards of total offense.
