Senior nose tackle Jake Fallis named 2nd Team All-America in football; Fallis, Benchic named All-North Region

ADA — Senior nose tackle Jake Fallis (Harrison) was named Second Team All-America in football for the 2008 season by D3Football.com.

Fallis and  junior offensive guard Andrew Benchic (Englewood/Miamisburg) were also named Second Team All-North Region.

Fallis is also a three-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference pick, earning First Team All-OAC kudos this year and Second Team honors in both his sophomore and junior seasons.

Rick Ingold, Eric Wenzler, Kyle Simmons named Academic All-OAC in Football

ADA — Juniors Rick Ingold (Newark) and Eric Wenzler (Springboro) and sophomore Kyle Simmons (Orrville) were named Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference in Football for 2008 in voting conducted by the league’s 10 faculty advisors.

Ingold was named Academic All-Conference and Wenzler and Simmons were Honorable Mention honorees.

Ingold and Wenzler were named CoSIDA Academic All-District IV earlier this fall.

Ten Ohio Northern players were named All-Ohio Athletic Conference in football for 2008 in voting conducted by the league’s 10 head coaches.

Senior nose tackle Jake Fallis (Harrison), junior offensive guard Andrew Benchic (Englewood/Miamisburg) and sophomore running back Brent Donley (Southfield, Mich./West Bloomfield) were named to the First Team.

ADA — Senior Curt Shepherd ran for a career-high 118 yards and a pair of touchdowns, leading Ohio Northern to a 24-6 Ohio Athletic Conference football victory over Wilmington on snowy Senior Day Saturday afternoon at Dial-Roberson Stadium.

The Polar Bears wrap up their season with a 5-5 overall record and posted their 13th consecutive upper division finish in the OAC with a 5-4 mark.

Eric Wenzler, Rick Ingold named Academic All-District in Football

ADA — Juniors Eric Wenzler and Rick Ingold were named Academic All-District IV in Football for 2008 in voting conducted by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Both men were named to the Second Team.

Wenzler is now a two-time Second Team Academic All-District honorees, as he earned the award as a sophomore a year ago.

He is a three-year starter at corner back for the Polar Bears.

In four games this season, he had 14 tackles, a pass broken up and one half of a tackle for loss.
