OAC Football Preview Show to air six times on Sports Time Ohio starting Tuesday

ADA — The hour-long 2009 Ohio Athletic Conference Football Preview Show can be seen six times over the next eight days on Sports Time Ohio, beginning Tuesday night, Aug. 25, at 6:30 pm.

The show will preview the upcoming 2009 OAC football season with interviews of players and coaches from all 10 OAC schools, as well as 2008 highlights and analysis of the upcoming season.

Adam Gonzaga named assistant football coach at Ohio Northern

ADA — Adam Gonzaga has been named an assistant football coach at Ohio Northern University.

He will coach the defensive backs and serve as co-defensive coordinator.

Gonzaga served as secondary coach at Bowling Green State in 2007 and 2008.

Prior to his stint at BGSU, Gonzaga spent five years at Northwood (Mich.) from 2002-06, one year at Navy (2001) and had stints at Greenville (Ill.) College in 1999 and 2000, Connecticut (1998), Lafayette (1997-98), Montana State (1996), Pacific (1993-95) and Stanford (1992).

Armon Hatcher named assistant football coach at ONU

ADA — Armon Hatcher is in his first season as an assistant coach at Ohio Northern and will assist with the defensive backs.

He will also serve as the defensive coordinator for ONU’s Freshman squad.

Hatcher is in his first coaching stint after a highly successful football career at Oregon State and in the National Football League.

He was a four-year letterman at Oregon State from 1995-98, where he was an All-Pac 10 honoree as a defensive back.

Football picked third, fifth at OAC Football Media Day

CANTON — The Ohio Northern football team was picked to finish third by the Ohio Athletic Conference coaches and fifth by the media at the 2009 OAC Football Media Day Tuesday afternoon at the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

The Polar Bears received 58 points in the coaches poll and 209 points from the 32 media members in the media poll.

Jamal Robertson leads Toronto Argonauts past Hamilton Tiger-Cats in CFL season opener

HAMILTON, Ontario — Former Ohio Northern All-American Jamal Robertson rushed for 124 yards and a touchdown, leading the Toronto Argonauts to a 30-17 victory at the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the 2009 Canadian Football League season opener Thursday evening at Igor Wynn Stadium.
