Career days by key players lift No. 18 Football to 38-7 Homecoming victory over Heidelberg

ADA —  Quarterback Kyle Simmons, receiver Justin Linzy and safety Jesse Richards all had big days as No. 18 Ohio Northern celebrated its Homecoming Weekend with a 38-7 victory over Heidelberg Saturday afternoon at Dial-Roberson Stadium.

The Polar Bears improve to 3-2 overall and are 2-2 in Ohio Athletic Conference play, while the Student Princes fall to 1-4, 0-4.

Jason Trusnik reportedly traded to Cleveland Browns

ADA — Former Ohio Northern All-American Jason Trusnik has reportedly been traded to the Cleveland Browns.

ESPN is reporting that Trusnik and an undisclosed number of draft picks are going to the Browns for All-Pro wide receiver Braylon Edwards.

Josh Horn named Ohio Athletic Conference Football Defensive Player of the Week

ADA — Ohio Northern senior defensive end Josh Horn was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Football Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in helping the No. 18-ranked Polar Bears to a 37-34 victory at Muskingum Saturday night.

Horn had a career-high 14 tackles and tied his career highs with 3.0 sacks and 3.5 tackles for loss. His final stop came on a 4th and 15 play in the final seconds to end the Muskingum come-back attempt.

NEW CONCORD -- Kyle Simmons and Brent Donley had outstanding games on offense and the Ohio Northern defense made three key plays late in the game to lift No. 16-ranked ONU past Muskingum 37-34 Saturday night at McGonagha Stadium.

The Polar Bears improve to 2-2 overall and are 1-2 in Ohio Athletic Conference play, while the Muskies fall to 0-4, 0-3.

Jason Trusnik earns AFC Special Teams Player of the Week honors with the New York Jets

ADA — Former Ohio Northern All-American Jason Trusnik was named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his efforts in the New York Jets' victory over the Tennessee Titans on Sept. 27.

Trusnik, in his third season with the Jets, had a fumble force and recovery on Titans returner Ryan Mouton that set the Jets up for their second touchdown of the game.
