    ADA — The Ohio Northern football team is ranked at No. 13 in the final D3Football.com poll  and is No. 24 in the final American Football Coaches Association poll for 2009.

    Northern also cracked into the American Football Coaches Association poll for the first time this season at No. 21 last Monday.

    The Polar Bears (8-2 overall, 7-2 Ohio Athletic Conference) were ranked No. 13 in the D3Football.com poll in weeks 10 and 11 and wrapped up their season with a 52-14 victory at Wilmington on Nov. 14.

    ADA — Ohio Northern senior Andrew Benchic (Englewood/Miamisburg) and junior Brent Donley (Southfield, Mich./West Bloomfield) were named All-America in football for 2009 by D3Football.com.

    Benchic was a Second Team All-America selection and Donley was a Third Team All-America pick.

    The teams were selected in balloting by sports information directors and D3football.com staff.

    Both players also earned First Team All-North Region honors by D3Football.com.

    ATIZAPAN de ZARAGOZA, Mexico -- Team Stars and Stripes suffered a 24-12 loss to the Tec Monterrey All-Stars despite a rousing fourth quarter comeback attempt to overturn a 17-point deficit in the Tazon de Estrellas at the Tec de Monterrey Campus Estado de Mexico.

    Ohio Northern seniors Andrew Benchic and Josh Horn played in the contest and ONU head football coach Dean Paul was the offensive coordinator for Team Stars & Stripes.

• Jamal Robertson is in his second season as a running back with the CFL’s Toronto Argonauts

• Robertson also spent 5 seasons in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers, the Carolina Panthers and the Atlanta Falcons, and was the NFL Europe MVP in 2002 with the Rhine Fire

• J.R. Cipra is in his first season as a kicker with the Baltimore Mariners of the American Indoor Football Association

• Cipra is in his 5th season in the AIFL, as he has also kicked for the Erie Freeze, the Canton Legends and the Erie River Rats
