ADA — Ohio Northern seniors Jeremy Wyant and Jake Heaphy were named Ohio Athletic Conference Football Players of the Week for their efforts in ONU's 49-6 win over Baldwin-Wallace on Saturday.

Wyant was named the Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career, while Heaphy was named the Special Teams Player of the Week for the third consecutive week and for the eighth time in his career.

Wyant had a career-high 10 tackles (5 solo) one tackle for loss and recovered a fumble to key ONU's strong defensive effort against the Yellow Jackets.

Heaphy was 7 for 7 on extra points, had six punts for a 40.3-yard average, which included a 57-yarder and three downed inside the BW 20-yard line, and averaged 53.2 yards on his eight kickoffs with one touchback.

This is the third consecutive week that Heaphy has received the award. He won the honor three times as a junior in 2008 and once in each his freshman and sophomore seasons.

The No. 17-ranked Polar Bears will return to action this Saturday with a showdown of nationally-ranked teams with a 1:30 pm contest at No. 13 Capital at Bernlohr Stadium.
