WSoccer falls to No. 18 Calvin (Mich.) 3-2

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Senior Erin Stapp and sophomore Chelsea Albert each knocked in a goal against Calvin (Mich.), as the Ohio Northern women’s soccer fell just short with the game ending in a 3-2 loss against the Knights.

The Lady Polar Bears record drops to 3-2-1 as the Knights move up to 4-1-1.

Stapp scored unassisted, scoring within the first five minutes of the game off a rebound to knock the ball in for the first goal of the game.

Calvin player Elizabeth Ribbens responded minutes later with an assist by teammate Carly Prins. The Knights started off the second half scoring off a pass from Elain Schnabel to Prins to put Calvin in the lead 2-1.

Late into the second half, Albert scored off a header on a cross from Kaitlin Sanders to tie the game.

Emily Ottenhoff scored on a penalty kick with only minutes left on the clock, allowing Calvin to pull ahead for the win.

The Polar Bears hit the field Wednesday at 5 pm with their first home game of the season against Wittenberg.
