Wrestling falls twice to ranked competition at National Duals

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — The Ohio Northern wrestling team dropped a pair of dual matches to two ranked opponents, falling to No. 3 Delaware Valley (Pa.) 46-0 and No. 24 Heidelberg 34-4 Saturday and the National Duals on the campus of Northern Iowa.

The Polar Bears also dropped a 21-16 decision to Buena Vista (Iowa).

Ohio Northern falls to 6-8 on year.

The Polar Bears wrestled with a makeshift lineup as four starters did not make the trip due to nagging injuries.

Jason VanAtta (133), Joe Spooner (141), Tyrel Nuzum (149), A.J. Coleman (165) and Collin Swick (174) all posted victories for ONU.

Spooner picked up his second pin of the season when he won by fall over Josh Allen of Buena Vista in just 47 seconds.

Ohio Northern will return to action Tuesday night with a 7:30 pm contest at Muskingum.
