ADA - The Ohio Northern Wrestling team won all 10 bouts and posted a 44-0 victory over Muskingum to remain undefeated in Ohio Athletic Conference play Tuesday night at the ONU Sports Center in Ada.
With the win the Polar Bears improve to 10-9 overall and are 3-0 in the OAC, while the Muskies fall to 2-8 on the season and 1-3 in the OAC.
Freshman Lou Piszker started off the night with a decision victory at 125. Piszker controlled the match from the start on his way to a 9-2 victory.
Fellow freshman Jeremy Jones was able to edge out Mike Halko on riding time at the 133 match to win the 3-2 decision.
At 141 Garrett Freeman won by forfeit.
Junior Nick Hoopes made it four in a row with a 6-2 decision over Kenny Poland at 149.
After the first four matches Northern had a 15-0 team lead.
Jeff Sommers continued Northern's dominant night as he defeated Muskingum's Ralph Geesey by a score of 9-5. Sommers replaced All-American Luke Miller who moved up to 165 for the match.
Miller didn't have any trouble moving up in weight as he dispatched Adam Harris by a 17-0 tech. fall in 5:59.
No. 4 ranked Kyle Kwait continued his personal hot streak as he notched his team best 13th win by fall over Jake Getto in 4:17 to extend Northern's commanding lead to 29-0.
Kwiat joins Miller and Jeremy Jones as the only ONU wrestlers to move to 3-0 in the OAC this season.
Matt Alexander earned a hard fought three team points at 184 as he put away Danny Dunn by a final score of 5-2.
Drew Swick got Northern's second pin of the night as he rolled through Kenny Weber in 2:52.
Justin Southwick rounded out Northern's perfect night as he pinned Josh Jackson in just 29 seconds to cap off the 44-0 victory.
"It was a good win tonight," ONU head coach Ron Beaschler said, "We were able to rest some guys up tonight, and hopefully this weekend we can get some younger guys experience as we get ready for a huge conference meet against Heidelberg on Tuesday."
Northern returns to action again this Saturday as they travel to Crawfordsville, Ind., to compete in the Monon Bell Classic. Northern begins action at 9 am.
