Wrestlers picked to finish second, third in OAC preseason coaches polls

ADA — The Ohio Northern wrestling team was picked to finish second in the Ohio Athletic Conference regular season and third in the OAC Tournament in 2009-10 OAC in voting conducted by the league's seven head coaches.

The Polar Bears received 28 points in the regular season poll and 27 points in the OAC Tournament poll.

Defending OAC champion Heidelberg was picked to win both titles, receiving 35 points and five first place votes in the tournament poll and 36 points and six first place votes in the regular season poll.

Mount Union was picked second in the tournament poll, receiving 29 points and the other two first place votes, and was third in the regular season poll with 27 points and one first place vote.

Northern welcomes back 11 lettermen and seven starters from last year's squad.the finished 12-11 overall, was 5-1 in OAC regular season action and finished fourth at the 2009 OAC Tournament.

The Polar Bears will open their 2009-10 season under 22nd-year head coach Ron Beaschler on Nov. 22 at the Buckeye/Keystone Challenge in Columbus.
