Women's Tennis team to face Geneseo State (N.Y.) in first round of NCAA III Tournament

ADA — The Ohio Northern women's tennis team will face Geneseo State (N.Y.) in the first round of the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Tournmament Thursday at Denison.

The Polar Bears (20-5) will face Geneseo (13-4) at 2 pm on Thursday with the winner advancing to the round of 32 to face regional host and No. 9-ranked Denison (14-6) on Friday at 2 pm.

Hope (Mich.), Keuka (N.Y.) and Mary Washington (Va.) are in the other half of the six-team regional. The regional championship game is slated for Saturday if Hope or Keuka are playing, or Sunday if Mary Washington in the the championship match.

Ohio Northern earned the Ohio Athletic Conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament by winning the OAC Tournament last weekend at the Lindner Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio.

The Knights reached the NCAA Tournament by winning the SUNYAC Championships in October. Geneseo was a perfect 10-0 in its traditional fall season and is 3-4 this spring.

The two squads do not have a common opponent this season.

This will be Ohio Northern's first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance.
