Women's Tennis blanks Mt. Union 9-0 to stay unbeaten in OAC play

ADA — The Ohio Northern women’s tennis team shut out its opponent for the third straight match as it defeated Mount Union 9-0 Saturday afternoon at University Courts.
The Polar Bears better their record to 11-4 overall and 4-0 in the Ohio Athletic Conference while the Purple Raiders move to 9-5 overall and 1-2 in the conference.
Senior Kaitlyn Macdonald battled back in number one singles play to earn a 6-7 (1-7), 6-1, 10-8 victory over Kacey Huff.
In number two singles play, sophomore Jacqueline Sammon defeated Kristina Hallet 6-4, 6-3.
Senior Bridget Larson won 6-4, 6-3 over Mary-Catherine Beck in number three singles.
Liz Bajusz picked up a win at number four singles over Leslie Douglass 6-3, 6-1.
In number five singles action, junior Katie Gibbs fought and won 6-4, 6-6 (7-5) over Michelle Miller.
The other comeback of the day occurred in number six singles as Kristen Timperman won 1-6, 6-4, 10-7 over Tara Beidenbach.
Bajusz and Sammon paired up for an 8-3 win in number one doubles play over Hallet and Huff.
The duo of Macdonald and Larson defeated Beck and Douglass 8-5 in number two doubles.
Gibbs and junior Jacki Hillis rolled to an 8-1 victory in number three doubles as they defeated Biedenbach and Mari Miki.
“We did a good job today,” Macdonald said. “The match was much closer than the score indicated. Each girl focused today and was able to pick up the win.
“This makes us confident,” Larson added. “Each match was important and we each took it one at a time.
ONU continues conference play on Tuesday as they travel to Baldwin-Wallace for a match-up of the OAC undefeated leaders at 3:30 pm.
