Women's Swimming finishes sixth at Wooster Invitational

WOOSTER — The Ohio Northern women's swimming and diving team finished sixth out of 11 teams at the three-day Wooster Invitational Thursday-Saturday.
The Polar Bears finished with 845.5 points. Wooster won the team title with 1,267.5 points, NCAA Division II Edinboro (Pa.) was second with 1,266 points and Division II Gannon (Pa.) was third with 1,088 points.
In the final day on Saturday, Jenna Schaffner, Hannah Bukowy and Lacey Shumate each posted top-five performances.
Schaffer finished fourth in the 3-meter diving event with 218.30 points, while teammate Julie Schweiterman was seventh with 224.00 points.
Bukowy was fourth in the 200 breast in 2:30.13. Kaitlin Early was 10th in the race in 2:36.13.
Shumate finished fifth in the 200 back in 2:15.87 and Jillian Huber was 14th in 2:18.80.
Michelle Eggers was 10th in the 1650 free in 18:47.87 and Sarah Fiffick was 11th in the 100 free in :55.96.
The 400 free relay squad of Katherine Moore, Eggers, Fiffick and Alison Garbash was seventh in 3:44.50.
The Polar Bears will return to action Dec. 26-Jan. 4 when they travel to Florida for their annual Winter Training trip.
