ADA —The Ohio Northern women’s soccer team was unable to get their offense started as they lost 3-0 to No. 17-ranked Calvin (Mich.) Saturday afternoon at the ONU Soccer Field.

The Polar Bears record drops to 2-1-0, as the Knights improve to 3-0-0.

Calvin scored early as Carly Prins headed in a Lauren Heyboer corner kick that managed to get past Northern keeper Kristen DeWees.

Calvin's second goal came at the 17:50 mark when an ONU defended unsuccessfully tried to clear the ball from the box. The clearing ball struck another ONU defender and snuck pass DeWees for an own goal.

After the two goals Northern’s defense was able to hold Calvin scoreless for the rest of the half, but was unable to cut into the lead.

Calvin added another goal at the 59:01 mark as Emily Ottenhoff scored off of a penalty kick after a hand ball by ONU in the box.

For the game the Polar Bears only managed six shots and three corner kicks while the Knights had 17 shots and eight corner kicks.

Calvin finishes the ONU Classic as champions with a 2-0 record.

Ohio Northern returns to action on Friday, Sept. 11 as the Polar Bears travel to Greencastle Ind. for the DePauw Classic.

The Polar Bears will take on DePauw on Friday at 7:30 pm, and Centre (Ky.) on Saturday at 5 pm.
