Women's Golf opens 2009-10 season with third place finish at Walsh Fall Invitational

NORTH CANTON - The Ohio Northern women's golf team opened the season with a third place finish at the Walsh Fall Invitational at the Sanctuary Golf Club Monday and Tuesday.
The Polar Bears (7-2) finished third out of 10 teams with a 353-344--697.
NCAA Division II host Walsh won with a 329-318--647, while NAIA-foe Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) finished second with a 341-341--682 and Ohio Dominican was fourth with a 345-354--699.
The Polar Bears had three golfers break 180 for the tournament and post top-20 finishes in the field of 59 golfers.
Senior Kaylea Thresher tied for seventh with an 86-80--168.
Junior Ashley Johnson tied for 14th with an 88-86--174 and senior Terri Lynn Shigle was 16th with an 88-88--176.
Rounding out the Ohio Northern scoring was sophomore Emily Gedert tied for 22nd with a 91-90--181 and junior Lauren Miller was 30th with a 92-99--191.
Nikki Kulasa of Walsh took Medalist honors with an 83-76--159.
