ADA — The Ohio Northern women's basketball team has been selected to finish in seventh place in the Ohio Athletic Conference as voted on by the league's 10 head coaches in the OAC Preseason Coaches Poll that was released on Wednesday.

The Polar Bears received 35 points in the voting.

No. 22 Capital is the preseason favorite to win the OAC, earning 79 points and seven first-place votes, while Wilmington is picked to finish second with 69 points and two first-place votes.

Mount Union received the only other first-place vote and is predicted to finish fourth with 61 points.

Northern finished with a 9-17 overall record last season and a 7-11 record in the OAC, earning the team eighth place in the conference and a trip to the OAC Tournament.

Looking to lead the Polar Bears this year will be 2008-09 Honorable Mention All-OAC and OAC Freshman of the Year Kara Dysert.

In her first season, Dysert was second on the team with 11.4 points a game and led the team with 7.4 rebounds a game.

The Polar Bears are also looking forward to the return of captains Brittany Bogart and Heather Armbruster who were both forced to miss last season due to injury.

Ohio Northern will begin its season on Saturday, November 21, at the Hanover (Ind.) Tournament in a matchup against Transylvania (Ky.) at 8 pm.
